Eugene C. Koch, age 91, of Bellevue, passed away Thursday evening, January 17, 2019 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born September 10, 1927 in Townsend Township (Sandusky County) to the late Clifford Clinton Koch and Lucille (Ries) Koch. He was a 1945 graduate of Monroeville High School and served in the US Air Force. He was a welder for 38 years at Center Manufacturing in Bellevue, retiring in 1989. He also enjoyed farming part-time. He enjoyed gardening, cook-outs in the grove and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Congregational Community United Church of Christ, Monroeville and Monroeville American Legion Post 547.
He is survived by his children: Vicki (Joseph) Caranfa of Bellevue, Beverly (David) Leibold, Richard (Julia) Koch and Janice (Jeffrey) Schild, all of Monroeville, eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; brother, Walter Koch of Tiffin; nieces, one nephew and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, Ruby L. Koch in 2007.
Friends may call Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service at 11:00 AM in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. The Rev. Dr. Wayne Chasney will officiate. Burial will follow at North Monroeville Cemetery with military honors.
