Dorothy Malinovsky Obituary

Dorothy E. Malinovsky passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5, 2019, at Parkvue Health Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio, where she resided, raised three children, and was a pillar for nearly seventy-five years.

Dorothy (Dot) Elizabeth Evans Malinovsky was born in Kinston, North Carolina, to Jesse Hallock Evans and Sadie Cummings Evans on April 27, 1921. She grew up as a “Southern Belle" before meeting her husband, Captain Victor S. Malinovsky, moving to Avon, Ohio, and eventually to Sandusky in 1945.  She and her husband, Vic, immediately immersed themselves into the educational and athletic endeavors at Sandusky High School, and so her Sandusky saga began….

After her husband’s early death, she poured her spirit and heart into her family, friends, and community. Championing church activities, high school athletics and educational strides, and Sandusky's cultural and historical interest, Sandusky roots grew and grew.   Employment at the Western Security Bank and the Sandusky Board of Education enriched her community spirit.

“Dot” will be remembered mostly for her welcoming personality, sense of humor, and many dear friends. 312- 50th Street, was an “open door” for everyone! As a single mom raising three active children, there was never a dull moment. Janet Evans, Columbus, Ohio, Judy (Paul) Klaus, Maitland, Florida, and Victor (Janice) Malinovsky, Bloomington, Indiana, mirror her Sandusky spirit.  six adoring grandchildren, Kimberly Klaus (Scott) Schmitt, Paul A. (Jennifer) Klaus, Jude Huzicko, Kathryn Coleman, Molly Greb, and Emmy Malinovsky along with ten great-grandchildren honor her strong legacy.

As the twilight of her life approached, Dot never tired of Sandusky’s nostalgia.  Beautiful sunsets over Sandusky Bay, graceful seagulls cruising the waves, echos of happiness heard from Cedar Point, and laughter and love of dear friends and family warmed her heart.

Dot was buried in the Oakland Cemetery on August 12, 2019 next to her husband. A celebration of her life and funeral service will be held in the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 431 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 27, 2019. The Rev. Lenore Kure will officiate.
