The Welton's were my second family. "Chuckles", as I called him, was like a father to me. We had fun decorating the boat for the Yacht Club boat parades and won a lot of trophies. I enjoyed working on the 1974 FRAM with him. I always felt welcome at the house on Decatur Street and especially enjoyed Christmas eve at the kitchen table. I have so many wonderful memories of Chuckles and he will always be in my heart. Much love to you all!

Brian Lindsley (Fram Photographer 1971 - 1974) Mr. Welton was a great man. He gave me my first break in photography. He believed in me, which has given me a lifetime in photography. Although I can't get down to Sandusky right now my thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Mr. Welton was a wonderful teacher. he taught me to respect deadlines, and in so doing, lit the spark that became a successful career in newspapers. He had a lifetime impact on this student -- what better legacy for a teacher?

I was saddened to read of Mr. Welton's passing.

I spent many years teaching with Joan at Venice Heights Elementary School, and felt fortunate to have befriended the Welton family.

May God provide comfort for you during this difficult time.

Dear Joan, I was so very sorry to read of Lindy's passing yesterday. When I taught at SHS many years ago (1977-83), you and Lindy were so gracious in welcoming me into your home for dinners and much laughter. In fact, a mutual family friend (Mary Laterza) had connected me with you both before I ever moved to Sandusky--you and Lindy helped me find my first apartment there! Rest assured his endearing personality, wit and lively spirit are still fondly remembered. May he rest in eternal peace. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

He will be missed. He was a wonderful Uncle and friend. Even though family are not living close by, you always think of them - fondly and often.

Dear Joan and family:
Please accept my deepest sympathy at the loss of Lindy. He was such a dear friend and mentor. Actually he was the first person to welcome me as a student teacher at SHS and was a close colleague ever after. We came to be good friends in and out school .I have a commitment until 10 a.m. on Thursday in Norwalk but will try to make the funeral .
