Nancy Lou Hibbard, 88, of Huron (Shinrock) met her Lord on Sunday, April 7, 2024, in the comforts of her home.
She was born February 18, 1936, in Sandusky and was a graduate of Milan High School. She received an LPN certificate through the Sandusky City School system and worked at the Fisher-Titus Medical Center for many years. Nancy was an active member of the Sandusky Community Church of Nazarene. She loved all children and found a calling in ministering the children of all ages. Nancy taught Sunday school until age 85, helped with the church Easter programs for children, and directed many Vacation Bible Schools throughout the years. The International Church of Nazarene presented Nancy with the Distinguished Service Award for her extraordinary, tireless, and self-sacrificing love for children’s ministry. Nancy also shared her love for flowers and gardening by leaving buckets of her gladiolus flowers for all to enjoy.
She is survived by her three children, Bart (Kathryn) Hibbard, Julia (Wesley Norrup) Hibbard, and Tad Hibbard; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Keller, Sarah Keller, Shelly Kidd, Natalie (Andrew) Zucker, Wyatt Jennings Hibbard, and Mackenzie Brett (Jared) Holmer; nine great grandchildren, two brothers, Thomas (Joanne) Baaske and Ronald (Carol) Baaske; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald D. “Jerry” Hibbard in 1994; her infant son, Brett Hibbard in 1960; daughter-in-law, Dianne (Cheek) Hibbard; parents, Alvin and Thelma (Easton) Baaske; one sister, Carol A. “Kay” Bickley.
Friends may call from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 11, 2024, in the Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene, 1617 Milan Road, Sandusky, Ohio 44870 and from 9:30 am until the time of Nancy’s funeral service at 10:30 am, Friday, April 12, 2024, at the church. Rev. Keith Martinez and Rev. David Flack will officiate. The burial will be in the Milan Cemetery.
Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky has been entrusted with arrangements.
