Shirley J. Burris, 70, of Sandusky passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, July 5, 2016 in the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
She was born on June 22, 1946 in Fort Dix, New Jersey and had lived in this area, including Middle Bass Island and North Bass Island, most of her life. She was employed at the Firelands Winery, prior to her retirement. Shirley was a member of the former Sandusky Baptist Temple, the American Legion Auxiliary, V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Huron Eagles.
She is survived by two daughters: Amelia (Javier) DeLaFunte of Arizona, Rebecca Jo Burris of Sandusky, one son: Hollis W. Burris, Jr. of Sandusky, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis W. “Wayne” Burris, Sr. in 2003, one daughter: Linda Musick, her mother: Amelia Rodriguez, 3 brothers: Michael Shukeat, Alberto Rodriguez, Jr., Samuel Rodriguez, one sister: Rebecca Blevins.
At the request of the deceased, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 8, 2016 from 4:00 PM until time of Memorial Service at 7:00 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Pastor Wally Gilbert will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in the North Bass Island Cemetery.
