Richard K. Heinz, 98, of Green Valley, Arizona and formerly of Sandusky passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 at his residence.

He was born January 7, 1919 in Sandusky and was a graduate of Sandusky High School where he played football on the undefeated team. He attended Ohio University for two years where he also played football. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and Korea, serving on the destroyer, Stockhoam in the Pacific. Richard owned and operated the former Heinz Plumbing and Heating in Sandusky until his retirement in 1981. Following retirement, he moved to Arizona.

He was a member of Perseverance Lodge No. 329, F.&A.M. and the Lowell C. Hein Post 2925 VFW.

He is survived by one daughter, Carol Beal of Pekin, IL; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte; one daughter, Joyce Barnard; his parents, Arthur and Marie (Klieger) Heinz; one granddaughter and two sisters.

Perseverance Lodge will hold Masonic Memorial Services on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Oakland Cemetery Chapel, 2917 Milan Road, Sandusky.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 West Bryn Mawr Avenue, Suite 550, Chicago, IL 60631.
