Larry R. "Butch" Kuns, 77, of Castalia, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in the University of Toledo Medical Center after a short illness.
He was born on December 17, 1937 in Castalia, Ohio to H.T. (Ted) and Luella Niemann Kuns. Larry graduated from Margaretta High School and attended Capital University. He married Carole Fitzthum on June 20, 1959. He was a lifelong farmer with his cherished family members on the Kuns Dairy Farm. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Castalia. He was also president of the Sandusky Milk Producers, member of the Farm Bureau and a longtime member of the Margaretta Athletic Boosters.
Larry loved sports and spending time with his family. He was a manager for the Sandusky Elks Baseball League and proud to say he played basketball and softball until he was 50 years old. As an avid sports fan, he loved cheering for his sons, grandchildren, other relatives and friends. For years, he and his wife enjoyed traveling the country following their children and grandchildren in college athletic competitions. In later years, Larry enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and beloved grandchildren. He loved meeting new people and was known for his kind, friendly smile.
Larry is survived by his wife, CaroleIž sons, Kevin (Diane) of Castalia, Gary (Julie) of Tipp City, and Mike (Melissa) Kuns of CastaliaIž his grandchildren which he adored, Sarah, Michelle, Lee, Andrew, Kaley, Mathew, Mackenzie, Darren and AmberIž six great-grandchildren; brothers, Dick and Jim of Castalia and sisters, Wanda Ross of Castalia and Carolyn Warner of Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Luella Kuns and brother, Norman "Sam" Kuns.
Friends may call Friday, June 5, 2015 from 9:30 AM until time of Memorial Service at 11:00 AM in the Grace Lutheran Church, 203 S. Washington Street, Castalia. The Rev. Kathleen Suggitt will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be on the farm at a later date.
