Donald C. Beerck

Donald C. Beerck, 84, of Sandusky passed away Monday, April 18, 2016 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky following a lengthy illness.

He was born on September 19, 1931 to Alois (Charles) and Mattie (Wooten) Beerck and was a 1949 graduate of Sandusky St. Mary’s High School.  He served in the National Guard and the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  Prior to his retirement Don was employed at the Ford Motor Company for 31 years, the Erie County Offices, Sandusky Fire Department and the former Philco Corporation.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, AMVETS, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). 

He is survived by his daughter, Sharon (Stephen) Woodburn of Huron; sons, Brian (Jeanette) Beerck of Fountain Valley, CA and Charles (Carol) Beerck of Arlington, TX and daughter, Susan (Dean) Blatnik of Sandusky, whom he resided with and who provided him with such special care during his illness.  In addition, he was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren, Logan and Claire Woodburn, Kelsey and Brandon Blatnik and Rachel and Adam Beerck. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Eileen (Bickley) in 1998; one son, Fred Beerck in 2015 and one brother, Robert in 1997.

Friends may call Friday, April 22, 2016 from 6-9:00 PM in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  There will be a prayer service held at 9:30 AM, Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Fr. Joseph Steinbauer will officiate.  Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
